LONDON -- Tesco
After trading as high as 385 pence in May, shares in�Tesco� (LSE: TSCO ) (NASDAQOTH: TSCDY ) were today down at 328 pence. That's a 15% fall in just one month. However, Tesco's low price-to-earnings ratio and significant dividend yield will now be attracting value and income investors.
Tesco is forecast to pay a dividend of 15.2 pence for the full year. At today's price, that's a 4.6% yield. If the supermarket manages to hit expectations for the year of 32.9 pence, the forecast P/E is just 10. According to my statistics, only nine other shares in the FTSE 100 are cheaper on both metrics.
Tesco is not excruciatingly cheap. That said, it's more than three years since the shares spent any meaningful time under 300 pence.
Croda International
Croda International� (LSE: CRDA ) is one of the FTSE 100's great success stories. Five years ago, the company had just reported 33.5 pence of earnings per share and the shares traded hands for 631 pence. Fast-forward to today, and 137 pence of EPS is expected for the full year. The shares are now priced at 2,260 pence.

Trading can be a quirky game sometimes. Most of the time, news - or at least loudly voiced opinions - tend to result from or be the cause of a fast-moving stock. Shares of Staples (SPLS) may have popped nearly 7 percent higher after the company posted a larger-than-expected profit a few days ago, but it's still in a bit of a funk. Quarterly sales fell for the seventh quarter in a row. Profitability improved, but largely on the closure of 127 underperforming stores, with another 43 or so to go before the year is over. Yes, fewer stores will naturally hold back overall sales growth, but it's important to point out that comparable-store sales at Staples in North America still fell a problematic 4 percent during the period. There's no "Easy" button to escape what the trend is telling investors. Business Before Pleasure This should be a great time for a superstore selling office supplies. The economy's improving. Unemployment rates are heading lower. Interest rates are low, making it easier for entrepreneurs to finance new ventures. The climate of the industry itself should also be faring well. Office Depot (ODP) completed the merger with OfficeMax, combining the industry's second- and third-largest players to give everybody else one fewer price-slashing competitor to worry about. Unfortunately, it wasn't just the cutthroat ways of Office Depot and OfficeMax holding Staples back. Amazon.com (AMZN) continues to become a retail juggernaut, and the popularity of speedy, reliable and cost-effective Prime deliveries to corporations of all sizes is on the rise. There's also the challenge of traditional big-box discount department store chains that are loading up on business essentials. What:�Shares of�Amira Nature Foods� (NYSE: ANFI ) were looking healthier today, gaining as much as 11% after the company named a new chief financial officer last night.

Another earnings short-squeeze prospect is packaged specialty rice and other food products distributor Amira Nature Foods (ANFI), which is set to release numbers on next Monday after the market close. Wall Street analysts, on average, expect Amira Nature Foods to report revenue of $132.37 million on earnings of 32 cents per share.
The current short interest as a percentage of the float for Amira Nature Foods is extremely high at 26.6%. That means that out of 17.70 million shares in the tradable float, 4.72 million shares are sold short by the bears. The bears have also been increasing their bets from the last reporting period by 8.2%, or by 356,000 shares. If the bears get caught pressing their bets into a bullish quarter, then shares of ANFI could easily rip sharply higher post-earnings as the shorts move fast to cover some of their trades.
From a technical perspective, ANFI is currently trending above its 200-day moving average and just below its 50-day moving average, which is neutral trendwise. This stock just recently bounced higher off some near-term support at $15.25 a share. That bounce is starting to push shares of ANFI within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade post-earnings.
If you're bullish on ANFI, then I would wait until after its report and look for long-biased trades if this stock manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $17 to $17.98 a share and then above more resistance at $18.52 a share with high volume. Look for volume on that move that registers near or above its three-month average action of 174,102 shares. If that breakout develops post-earnings, then ANFI will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $19.86 to $20.29 a share, or even its 52-week high at $25 a share.
I would simply avoid ANFI or look for short-biased trades if after earnings it fails to trigger that breakout and then drops back below some key near-term supp

A consumer goods player that's starting to trend within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Amira Nature Foods (ANFI), a global provider of packaged Indian specialty rice, with sales in over 40 countries. This stock has been in play with the bulls over the last three months, with shares up 25%.
If you take a look at the chart for Amira Nature Foods, you'll notice that this stock has been uptrending strong for the last five months, with shares soaring higher from its low of $7.44 to its recent high of $17.41 a share. During that uptrend, shares of ANFI have been making mostly higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. Shares of ANFI have started to break out above some key near-term overhead resistance levels today at $15.92 to $16.25 a share. That move is quickly pushing shares of ANFI within range of triggering another big breakout trade.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in ANFI if it manages to break out above its all-time high of $17.41 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above that level with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 226,387 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then ANFI will set up to enter new all-time-high territory, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that breakout are $25 to $27 a share.
Traders can look to buy ANFI off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 50-day at $15.03 a share or around more key near-term support at $14.72 a share. One could also buy ANFI off strength once it starts to clear $17.41 a share with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.
