Investors looking for income and capital appreciation potential for the long term may want to consider electric utility stocks. If you look at the Dow Jones Utility Average over the last twelve months, you would see that utility stocks have dropped by 1.28%, partially due to fears of rising interest rates, partially due to the concern about competition from solar roof panels, and partially due to the fears about the reduction in electrical usage from fluorescent and LED light bulbs.
This may be a buying opportunity for contrarian income investors looking to get into utilities. There are dozens of electric utilities to choose from with over 20 providing yields of 4% or more, according to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.
For example, TECO Energy, Inc. (TE) sports a yield of 5.3%. This electric and gas utility holding company provides electricity to West Central Florida. The stock trades at 20 times trailing earnings and 15.4 times forward earnings. The company has raised its dividend every year since 2006.
Integrys Energy Group, Inc. (TEG) serves the Wisconsin, Michigan, and Chicago areas. It has a P/E ratio of 14.3, a forward P/E ratio of 15.7, and offers a generous yield of 4.9%.

Lloyds has several catalysts working in its favor. The bank has been busily disposing of assets that it views as non-core — the latest being a $1.45 billion ($1.37 billion U.S.) disposition of Australian operations to Aussie banking giant Westpac (WBK). In addition, Lloyds said it hopes to pay out as much as 70% of earnings as a dividend by 2016, which as a high-yield editor, has my full attention. This puts shares on a prospective yield for 2016 of more than 7% if earnings come in as projected.

More than a handful of international companies had strong performances over the past year. Australia-based Westpac Banking (NYSE: WBK ) , for example, soared 54% -- and still yields a fat 5.4%. It's been hampered, though, by the slowdown in China, as China uses many commodities produced by Australia. Some worry about a housing slowdown hurting the company, too.

Most Australian banks seem to comply with (1) and (2). On the other hand, Australian banks have a loan to deposit ratio of 120% and around 9% of their funding is short term foreign funding. This means that their results shall be severely damaged by a steep depreciation of the local currency. A good example of a bank that is easy to short from the US (since it trades in the New York Stock Exchange) is the Westpac Banking Corporation (WBK). Westpac generates 90% of its revenues domestically and sells for 2014 13.1 times earnings and 2.1 times its 2014 expected book value. That said, there is one problem that you will find when you short Westpac's shares: The bank pays a +5% cash dividend yield.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Roberto Pedone]
Another stock that insiders are loading up on here is InnerWorkings (INWK), which is a provider of managed print and promotional procurement solutions to corporate clients across a range of industries. Insiders are buying this stock into significant weakness, since shares are off by 49% so far in 2013.
InnerWorkings has a market cap of $357 million and an enterprise value of $425 million. This stock trades at a fair valuation, with a trailing price-to-earnings of 23.20 and a forward price-to-earnings of 23.20. Its estimated growth rate for this year is -75.6%, and for next year it's pegged at 200%. This is not a cash-rich company, since the total cash position on its balance sheet is $19.22 million and its total debt is $91.50 million.
A beneficial owner just bought 32,000 shares, or about $214,000 worth of stock, at $6.69 to per share. That same beneficial owner also just bought 108,700 shares, or about $727,000 worth of stock, at $6.69 to $6.70 per share.
From a technical perspective, INWK is currently trending below both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which is bearish. This stock gapped down sharply in November from $9.75 to $5.54 a share with heavy downside volume. Following that gap down, shares of INWK have reversed its bearish trend and entered an uptrend, with the stock moving higher from its low of $5.54 to $7.21 a share. That move has now pushed shares of INWK within range of triggering a major breakout trade.
If you're bullish on INWK, then I would look for long-biased trades as long as this stock is trending above some key near-term support at $6.42 and then once it breaks out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $7.07 to $7.21 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average volume of 530,297 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then INWK will set up to re-fill some of its previous gap down zone from Novembe
